More detail on this person: Robert L. Vecchio, 72, died Tuesday at the Somerset Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Vecchio lived most of his life in Hillsborough. He was a helicopter pilot in the United States Army during the Viet Nam Conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12 in Somerville and the Viet Nam Vets Association in Flemington. He retired from Torcon Inc. as construction estimator.

Son of the late Joseph and Concetta Vecchio, he is survived by his wife Gayle Hamilton Vecchio, two sons Patrick and Michael, two brothers Ralph and Joseph Vecchio, one sister Terri Kennedy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Rt. 206, Hillsborough. Visitation will be Friday from 6-9 pm at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 11:00 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, 1734 Clinton Ave., South Plainfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, PO Box 5281, North Branch, NJ 08876 or The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, 34th St. & Civic Center Blvd., Philadelphia, PA. 19104.
