Vincent, son of Mrs. Tony Vincent Sr., 500 Grand Ave., Indianola Miss., began months of study Aug. 2 at the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va. The staff college, operated under the supervision of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, prepare: U.S. and allied officers from all services for future assignments with staffs of commands in which the forces of more than one nation are involved. Included in the program instruction in the roles of nonmilitary instruments of foreign policy such as the U. S. State Department, Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Information Maj. Vincent entered the army in January 1951. The Major, a 1949 graduate of Indianola High School in Mississippi, is a 1351 graduate of Mississippi Delta Jr. College at Moorhead and a 1961 graduate of Municipal University of Omaha in Nebraska. Maj. Vincent was commissioned as a graduate of Officer Candidate School. He has received the distinguished Flying Cross, twelve awards of llie Army Air Medal, two awards of the Army Commendation Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. The Delta Democrat-Times From Greenville Mississippi Thursday, June 19, 1969 CARLISLE BARRACKS, PA.-Army Lieutenant Colonel Samuel M. Vincent, son of Mrs. Tony Vincent Sr., 500 Grand Ave., Indianola, Miss., was graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pa., on June 16. The Honorable Stephen Ailes, former Secretary of the Army, presented diplomas to the 224 officers completing the senior Army school's 10-month curriculum. The War College prepared senior officers of all the services, as well as top civlian officials in government agencies, for staff and command positions in the field. While a student, Lt. Col. Vincent resided with his wife, Bettye, in Carlisle, Pa. He is a 1960 graduate of the University of Omaha (Neb.). He is scheduled for a new assignment with the U.S. Army Armor Center, Ft. Knox, Ky.
