More detail on this person: Lt. Col. (Retired) William E. Voll William E. Voll, age 70, passed away suddenly at his home November 5, 1998, with his loving wife at his side. He was born January 5, 1928, in Helper, Utah, to Frederick W. and Gladys Maulsby Voll. Married Betty Taskar, September 8, 1951, in Helper, Utah. Lifelong resident of Helper.Bill proudly served his country during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and later retired in 1973 as a Lt. Col. of the U.S. Army. Bill returned to Helper where he served as a Helper city police officer for several years and later became a postman for 13 years. Member of the following Masonic affiliations: Carbon Lodge #16 F&A.M., Scottish Rite Oreint of Utah, El Kala Shrine, Eastern Utah Shrine Club. Member of Helper American Legion Post #21 and Price Elk's Lodge #1550. Bill was the unofficial camp director at Scofield, where he was a special host, known for his charm and generosity. No one can fill his place in the hearts of his family and friends. "Good-bye Bill, we love you." Survived by his wife, Betty Voll of Helper; son, Kevin and Kara Voll of Park City; daughter, Janet (Jan) MacKnight of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Kale and Kiersha Voll; brother, Alan and Claire Voll of Anaheim, CA; and his loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and a brother, Frederick. Public Masonic funeral service, Monday, November 9, 1998 at 2 p.m., Mitchell Chapel. Family will be at Mitchell's on Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment: Mt. View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, Fairfax Ave. and Virginia St., Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
