More detail on this person: Anchorage resident,
Harold J. Wright passed away June 14 at
Providence Alaska Medical Center of cancer. Mr.
Wright was born in Salem, Ore. July 16, 1937. He
completed two years of college and served 4 years
in the Marines followed by 26 years in the Army.
He retired as a CW3. After retirement, he worked
as a civil servant on Fort Richardson for 10
years.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Wright, of
Oregon: his wife, Nadra, of Alaska; his children,
James Wright, Robert Wright, William Wright,
Alaina Wright, and Robert Hawkins; his brother,
Larry Wright, of Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and 4
great-grandchildren.
Harold Wright was a man of honor and integrity,
who spent most of his adult life serving his
country and family. He served as a medivac pilot
in Vietnam, and helped many men home to their
families, as a result. He was decorated in combat
a number of times. Having served a tour of duty
at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, he fell in love with
the beautiful state and returned after he retired.
He met Nadra, whom he married and was with for
29 years.
Our beloved husband and father will be mssed, and
shall live on in our hearts, until we are together
again. He was our hero. He was my sunshine.
A visitation will be at 11 a.m. Mon., June 25,
with a funeral service immediately following at
Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and a graveside
service after at Fort Richardson National
Cemetary. Memorial donations may be made for
cancer research, Vietnam, or diabetes foundations.
