More detail on this person: James Wittman and his wife and eldest daughter died in an aircraft accident. He graduated from flight school with Class 67-3. In Vietnam, he served with the 61st Assault Helicopter Company in 1967-68.

Just to let you know that his call sing was Black Angel 15; it was not 17. He was a great helicopter pilot, I was shot down with him twice and it was his autorotation ability and never loosing his cool that I give credit to saving our lives. Thank you very much for your assistance. He will forever remain in my memory.

I am Jim Wittman's youngest daughter. He died May 11, 2003, with his wife and eldest daughter. His son and two daughters survive him. Thanks to Scott DeArman and Roger Lockshier for the stories at the recent S.O.A.R. event, and to Dick Crawford for getting those guys and my father recognized for their brave service in Vietnam.
