More detail on this person: James D. Wilson Obituaries Fayetteville Observer, The (NC) - Monday, September 1, 2008 Retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Sgt. James "Jim" Dereld Wilson, 74, of 903 Southview Circle, Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Wilson was a member, as well as a deacon, at Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Wilson was in Special Forces - Green Beret, served two terms in Vietnam and Operation Desert Storm. He retired from civil service at Fort Bragg. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Hayes Wilson. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, in Immanuel Baptist Church, with Dr. Ken Earwood and the Rev. John Cuthill officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service Tuesday at the church. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Clara Holder Wilson of the home; a son, Joseph D. Wilson of Fayetteville; a daughter, Deborah A. McLain and husband Earl of Huntsville, Ala.; two stepdaughters, Joyce M. Green of Charlotte and Patsy M. Tart and husband David of Greensboro; a sister, Patricia McLain of Chatsworth, Ga.; four grandchildren, Dustin McLain and wife Stacy of Huntsville, Austin McLain of Brunswick, Ga., Leslie McLain of Huntsville and Chelsea McLain of Huntsville; three stepgrandchildren, Robert F. Green Jr. and wife Dyanne, Jennifer E. Green and Kimberly T. Lapeirre and husband Mike; and two great-stepgrandchildren. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 219 Hull Road, Fayetteville, NC 28303; or to Community Home Care & Hospice, 5301 Morganton Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
