More detail on this person: J. Orman Weight J. Ormon Weight, age 75, passed away December 6, 2010 at his home in Highland, Utah. J was born May 16, 1935 in Hurricane, Utah, to Ormon Ralph Weight and Fern Amelia Jones. He received a Bachelor degree from Omaha University and his MBA from the University of Utah. He married Joanne DeShong, later divorced. J married Avey Matheson Miller on September 11, 1988. He served his Nation with enormous professionalism, valor and fidelity for more than 24 years as a member of the National Guard of the United States and the active U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S. Army in April 1977 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His distinguished career included over eight years of service abroad in Germany, Korea, and the Republic of Vietnam. J participated in seven campaigns in Vietnam. He earned many distinguished medals and honors including the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Following his military retirement, he was employed as the Salt Lake County Auditor. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many church callings including an ordinance worker at the Bountiful Utah Temple. He had a deep love and appreciation of music, art, and sports. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and dearly loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents Ormon Ralph Weight and Fern Amelia Jones, sister Gay Cottrell, brother Howard, brothers in law Keith Rupp and Robert Cottrell. Survived by his wife, Avey Matheson Miller, children Kelley Mustion (Rick), Lori Weight, Bryan Weight (Spring), Todd Miller (Susan), Stephanie Layton (Roger), Sean Miller (Rebekah), 17 grandchildren, brothers Harold (Peggy), Mark (Sandie), sisters Dixie Rupp, Cherie Van Ry (Jack), Nadine Page (Steve), Christine Price (Paul), and Shirley Mellor. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Canyon View Ward Building 10494 N. 4720 W., Highland, Utah. Friends may call Monday, December 13, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson and Sons Mortuary 49 E. 100 N., American Fork, Utah, and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
