Wall, LTC Retired, 78, died on Monday, December 4, 2006, at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 8, at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. James Sides. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park with Military Honors. James was a native of Randolph County, the son of Cicero G. and Geneva Goodwin Wall. He served in the U.S. Air Force and then the U.S. Army, with duty seen in Korea, Vietnam, and the Dominican Republic. He retired after 28 years of service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He then worked as an aviation investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board, retiring after 17 years of Civil Service. James is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joann L. Hethcox Wall; son, Major (Ret.) Dennis A. Wall and wife, Karen of Marietta, Ga.; and daughter, Tanya Wall Perez and husband, Ruben of Agua Dulce, Calif.; one sister, Doris Andrews and husband, Lee of Trinity; and two grandsons also survive, James W. Wall and Travis A. Wall. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 on Thursday evening at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of one's choice.
