More detail on this person: Major Jimmie M. Windham Date: October 23rd, 1942 - August 21st, 2012 Major Jimmie Mack Windham, age 69, died at his residence in Waynesboro on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. He died battling lung cancer related to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam. Born October 23, 1942 in Mobile, AL, to Charlie and Ada Windham, he attended Robertsdale High School and recieved an Aeronautical Degree from Embry Riddle University. Jim served in the Army completing two combat tours in the Republic of Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He rose through the ranks from a Private until retiring in 1981, attaining the rank of Major. On October 19, 1964 he married Jung Su Ko also known as Tina. Jim lived in Ft. Bragg, NC; Ft. Campbell, KY; Ft. Knox, KY; Ft. Rucker, AL; Stow, OH; Flagstaff, AZ; St. Amant and Gonzales, LA; Elsanor, Elberta and Robertsdale, AL; South Korea and settling in Clara, MS eventually moving to Waynesboro. He has been a resident of this area for over twenty years, making this his true home. Jim was a member of the Waynesboro First Baptist Church. Jim will be remembered for his quick wit, love of birds, airplanes and politics. He had a passion for classic cars and could tell you just about anything by looking at a picture of one. He owned many classic cars throughout his life and recently had a '71 GMC Sprint, '76 Mercedes 450 SL and a '54 Ford Thunderbird. He was a Ford man at heart. His first car was a white 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang Convertible. He also restored two Ford tractors, an 8N and a Golden jubilee. he also enjoyed playing a little guitar and listening to anything Elvis. Survivors include his son, Keith Windham and his companion Cindy McLeod; grandsons Joshua Windham, Journey Windham; brothers, Carl, Frankie and Francis Windham; and many close friends. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Tina. Visitation for Mr. Windham will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro with Dr. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be in White House Cemetery in Waynesboro. Memorial contributions are welcome in lieu of flowers, in memoriam of Jim Windham, to the Jefferson Cancer Center, 1203 Jefferson Street, Laurel, MS 39440, Gail Phipps, N. P.
