More detail on this person: Vernal "Gene" Warnock passed away on March 29, 2011 in Birmingham Al after a short battle with cancer. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966. He became dual qualified as a fixed and rotary wing pilot, ultimately earning his master Army Aviator Wings. During his tour in VietNam, the flew the notorioous Cobra Helicopter. He earned several awards such as the Distinguished Flying Cross, The Legion of Merritt and the Air Medal just to mention a few.
