Watson,56, of Mansfield, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 10, 2000, in San Antonio, Texas, after a brief illness. Services were held in Cape Girardeau, Mo., with burial in Lorimier Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Tamara; three children, Sherman R. of Iowa, Casey of Oklahoma City and Sherman Benjamin Paul; his mother, Lucille Watson, and a sister, Kathy Wells, both of Severna Park, Md.; and a brother. He was preceded in death by his father. Born June 5, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dr. Sherman B. and Lucille Davison Watson, he married Tamara Buttry of Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Dec. 24, 1997. He was a corporate pilot with E.W. Blanche Co. of Dallas and a pilot instructor with Simuflite of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and attended the University of Iowa and Central College in Pella. Sherman was an Army warrant officer and Chinook helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War.
