Ward Bladen Journal (Elizabethtown, NC) - Friday, April 17, 2009 LAKE WACCAMAW - Clarence Thomas "Tookie" Ward, age 57, of 511 James Avenue, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at his residence. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, April 18, at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church in Lake Waccamaw with the Rev. Maria Lacewell officiating. Burial will be in the Cutler Cemetery. A viewing will take place at Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville Friday, April 17, from noon to 7 p.m. Another viewing will be at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service, and there will be no viewing after the service. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are daughters, Joi Denise Ward of Lake Waccamaw, Nathifa Ward-Smith of Richmond, Ca., and Fukayna Faizah Ward of San Ramón, Ca.; a son, Thomas Ward Jr. of San Ramón, Ca.; parents, Charles and Ella Ward of Lake Waccamaw; sisters, Terry Cockerham of Chapel Hill and Sharon Castillo of Lake Waccamaw; and six grandchildren. Friends may visit the at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Ward, 103 Top Tobacco Road, Lake Waccamaw.
