(USA Retired), 67, a long-term resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, died May 20, 2011 after battling prolong illness. Larry was born April 12, 1944, in Boise, Idaho to Dell and Ula Wardle, who preceded him in death. He served in the United States Army as an aviator, and spent three tours in South Vietnam, where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Soldier's Medal, Bronze Star with Valor, Air Medal with Valor, Army Commendation Medal with Valor as well as 5 Purple Hearts. He came to Texas in the early 1970's, where he met his wife, Elizabeth Ann. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1981, where he worked at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station as a training specialist. His love for aviation was further expressed by his work to help organize the Third Coast Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force, Coastal bend Texas. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dell and Don Wardle. He is survived by wife of 32 years, Elizabeth Ann; his daughter, Susan Elizabeth, his son, John Brian, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and grandson, Jackson Roland. Also, close personal friends to the family, George, Debbie, Madison and Rylan Fennema; also one sister, Dee Conners of Boise, Idaho; his nieces and nephews, Camille Woodworth, Jacque Waters, Rick and Sean Waters. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesdayday, May 24, 2011 at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The family is extremely grateful for the care provided by Dr. Turner, Gloria, and all the staff of Coastal Bend Cardiology, Dr. Shane Bailey of Austin, and Dr. Farzeneh Banki, of the University of Texas health Science Center in Houston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Third Coast Squadron of the commemorative Air Force, Coastal Bend, Texas, or Pee Wee's Pet Sanctuary of Corpus Christi.
