More detail on this person: Bill Whitcomb Sr SPRINGFIELD - Bill Whitcomb Sr., 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in Prescott Valley, Ariz. at his son's residence at 9:20 p.m. He was born Jan. 18, 1949, in Springfield, the son of Frank and Edna Rodems; they preceded him in death. Mr. Whitcomb served approximately 10 years in the Army and two tours in Vietnam. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons, Steven Gene (wife, Danielle) of Prescott Valley, Ariz. and William David Jr. (wife, Barbara) of Springfield; a daughter, Tara Whitcomb of Spring Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County performing military honors.
