More detail on this person: Charles Michael Wilkerson Charles Michael Wilkerson was born the son of Charles Woodrow Wilkerson and Frankie Irene Smith Wilkerson on Jan. 24, 1950, in Myrtle, Mo., and died June 27, 2007, in Springfield, Mo. at the age of 57. He was united in marriage in January 1970, at Medway, Ohio to Carla Bills. He was united in marriage November of 1982 to Marit Keith. Mike was a helicopter pilot while proudly seving his country in the Vietam Era, earning the rank of Warrant Officer I. He was a member of the Modern Day Veterans Associa-tion and the National EMSPA. He was owner of the Myrtle Cafe, a place where many liked to gather, visit and enjoy good food. He loved his hometown and especially enjoyed spending time on Eleven Point River. As most people know, Mike loved to fly and was currently a helicopter pilot, employed by Air Evac. He was a life-long Democrat and had been involv-ed many years with the Oregon County Democratic Party. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Myrtle. He is survived by: three sons, Charles-Matthew James Wilkerson and wife, Jennifer, of Troy, Ohio, Paul-Michael Gordon Wilkerson of Myrtle, Mo., and Bjorn Joseph Wilkerson of Myrtle; three grandchildren, Charles-William Dean Wilkerson, Cameron-Matthew James Wilkerson and Taylor Ann Wilkerson, all of Troy, Ohio; his companion, Myrna Burns of Myrtle; three sisters, JoKay Smith and husband Jerry of Mammoth Spring, Ark., Becky Haney and husband Jack of Mammoth Spring, and Suzanne Callahan and husband,?Jack of Jonesboro, Ark.; two nieces, Dawn Purdom and Morgan Haney; two nephews, Chase and Carter Callahan; special buddy, his golden retriever, Jenny; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Irene Wilkerson. Services were held July 1 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel with John McFarlen officaiting. Burial followed at the Myrtle Cemetery with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home of Thayer. (South Missorian News, 7/3/07)
