More detail on this person: William C. Walker William C. Walker Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, January 26, 2009 VIRGINIA BEACH - Lt. Col. William C. Walker died peacefully Jan. 25, 2009, of advanced heart disease at age 75. He was born in Fairmont, W.Va., raised in Charleston, W.Va., and graduated from University of Virginia. He served our country for 20 years as an Army officer and helicopter pilot including three-year-long combat tours (Korea, Vietnam twice). He settled in Virginia Beach in 1976 and began a successful second career as an investment advisor. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Walker; daughter, Mary Lynn McNeil; son, William C. Walker, M.D.; six grandchildren, John Thomas, Sean Walker, Corinne Elizabeth, Connor James, Matthew Danila and Maura Allyson; stepchildren, Robert J. McNeely and Ginger L. Bateman; four stepgrandchildren; sister, Helen Hope Webb; and brother, Walter W. Walker. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann Thomas Walker. His love for conversation, larger-than-life personality and devotion as father, grandfather and husband will carry on in our memories forever. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, by the Rev. Mark Reuter. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and following the service. In place of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of one's choice.
