More detail on this person: Robert John Weisel, 73, of Simsbury, beloved husband of Ann (Ruth) Weisel, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born April 9, 1940 in Easton, PA, son of the late James and Mary (Hall) Weisel and grew up in Riegelsville, PA. He moved to Simsbury thirty-seven years ago. Bob was a graduate of Penn State University, Class of 1961, having received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He served as a Captain in the Marine Corps, flying helicopters during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Weisel was the Vice President of Real Estate Investments for Aetna for most of his career. Bob was a member of Theta Delta Chi and the Penn State Alumni Association, tutored at the Center for Youth at Hands on Hartford, and volunteered for many organizations, including Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Veterans History Project, and the Bear Island Conservation Association. He enjoyed hiking, spending time with his grandchildren, and summers on Bear Island on Lake Winnipesaukee. He was a life-long fan of the Nittany Lions and all of his Philadelphia sports teams. Besides his loving wife Ann of forty-nine years, he is survived by his children, John Preston Weisel, his wife Kimberly Scammell and their children Chase and Rhys of Stockton, NJ, and Ingrid Weisel Sutter, her husband Steven and their children Thomas and Rebecca of Concord, MA and his brother, C. James Weisel and his wife Patricia of Concord, NC. There are no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, November 22nd, 11 a.m. at the First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. Burial will be private.
