for John Wayne Wheeler, age 66, of Clarinda, who
entered into peace Sunday, Dec. 25 at his
residence, Clarinda, were held 2:00 p.m., Sunday,
Dec. 30 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda with
Pastor Daryl Tompkins officiating. Visitation with
the family was held 1-2 p.m., Sunday at the
funeral home prior to the service. Burial was in
the Braddyville Cemetery, Braddyville. A memorial
will be established for Veteran's Benefit.

Home of Clarinda.
John Wayne Wheeler was born July 9, 1946 in
Hartford, Connecticut to Eugene R. Wheeler and
Patricia (Michaud) Wheeler. His family was in the
service and he lived in several places and
graduated from St. Augustine High School, San
Diego, California. He furthered his education at
University of San Diego and Notre Dame receiving
his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree. John
received his degree in dentistry from the
University of Illinois of Chicago. He served his
country during the Vietnam Conflict as a
helicopter pilot from May 8, 1970 to August 28,
1974. John then transferred to the Navy and served
as a dentist until his retirement from the Navy.
He continued in dentistry with his own private
practice in San Diego. His most recent employment
was with Pella Corporation of Shenandoah, Iowa.
John loved to golf and his hobbies included model
trains and model airplanes.
John's father, Eugene Wheeler preceded him in
death.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Anna
Wheeler and Devin Wheeler (Alondra) of La Mesa,
California; grandchildren, Jayden and Addison and
step grandchildren, Peter and Serena; mother,
Patricia Wheeler of Braddyville, Iowa; brother,
Richard Wheeler and wife Karen of San Diego,
California; other relatives and many friends.
John Wayne will be missed by his family and
friends. He will be forever in their hearts. May
God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn
his passing.
