He retired from the Army after 20 years of service, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel. Mr. Williams was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Quitman, Ga., to Burey and Gartrell (McRae) Williams, who are deceased. He was married Dec. 8, 1950, to Ellen Anne Harrison. He is survived by his wife; a son, Steve; two daughters, Nancy and Lynn; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Memorial, 51 County Road 5, Divide, 687-0333. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of giver's choice.
