II Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at Saint Mary's of Michigan. Age 72 years. Bill was born on April 7, 1941, in Saginaw to the late William, Sr. and Elizabeth (Thick) Williams. Bill had served proudly as part of the First Cavalry (helicopter pilot), comprised of the 2nd/20th Aerial Rocket Artillery, C Battery in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Army Aviator Badge, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, Air Medal with 22 Oak Leaf Clusters, also 2 O/S Bars. Bill was a member of the D.A.V. Saginaw Chapter #4. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an inspector at Saginaw Steering Gear. Surviving are his daughter and son, Kimberly Kennedy and William G. Williams III; three grandchildren; also several cousins, nieces and nephews, including Ruth Anne Sullivan. Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. The Rev. Elias N. Mumbiro will officiate. Private entombment will follow in Oakwood Mausoleum with military honor guard conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, on Sunday, December 22, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., then on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to D.A.V.
