Winesette, 59, passed away at his home on
Sunday evening May 24, 2009, in Myrtle Beach,
SC. He fought a long courageous battle with
cancer. Greg was born April 23, 1950 in
Whiteville, NC, son of the late Richard C. and
June Miriam Winesette. He graduated from Kinston

Greg served his country in the US Army as a pilot
during the Vietnam War. He was also a private
charter pilot and commercial realtor in past
years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing
with family and friends. Greg was a devoted father
to Greg and Paige. He will be missed.
Survivors include his children, son, Richard
"Greg" Gregory Winesette, Jr. and daughter, Paige
Mallory Winesette of Myrtle Beach, SC; his brother
Mike Winesette and wife, Tina of Wilmington, NC.
His sister, Lisa Winesette Marku and husband,
Vaso, of Orlando, Florida. One nephew, Michael
Winesette, and two nieces, Caroline Winesette and
Isabella Marku. La Faye Clarkson, Angela and
Doug Martin, and Aunt Doris Hardee Mooney were
very special to Greg. Many thanks to the
physicians and staff that cared for Greg at the
Ralph Johnson Veterans Medical Center in
Charleston, SC and Medical University of South
Carolina.
Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at
McMillan-Small Funeral Home with Dr. Robert C.
Wilkes, Jr. officiating. Interment will be
private. The family will receive friends following
the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
American Cancer Society, 950-48th Ave. N., Myrtle
Beach, SC 29577.

His father was Richard C. Winesette, who was the
191st Avn Co commanding officer when it was
activated at FT Bragg. Apparently he did not
deploy with the unit when it shipped out. I
remember someone telling me a story about the
CO's son stopping by our unit in Vietnam to visit.
I also spoke with a family member and verified
this information.
