More detail on this person: Wallace Edward Or Wally Winslow, 54 OBITUARIES Oak Leaves (Oak Park, IL) - Wednesday, February 18, 2004 Wallace Edward "Wally" Winslow, 54, of Austin, Texas, a native of Oak Park, formerly of Melrose Park, died unexpectedly while jogging on Jan. 21. Mr. Winslow was born June 19, 1949, in Oak Park. He grew up in Melrose Park and graduated high school an All-State football star. He went on to play football at the United States Naval Academy, where he was a 1971 graduate. He earned his master's degree from the University of Southern California. He served seven years in the Marine Corps and flew CH-46 Helicopters. Following a 17-year career in corporate marketing, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and started his own business in Austin, Texas. A self-proclaimed amateur restaurant critic, he enjoyed chess, opera, running, reading, military history, football and his role as doting father to his three beautiful daughters. Mr. Winslow is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen Lee; daughters, Shannon, Lauren and Erin; his mother, Marge; and brother, Steve of Chicago; his best friend and brother-in-law, Dan Nelson; nieces and nephews and countless family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Edward Winslow Sr. Memorial service was held Jan. 26 in the Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church. A reception followed the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wa!ly Winslow Scholarship Fund at Bank of America. Arrangements were made by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, Austin, Texas.
