More detail on this person: LTC Gordon Frank Wood Obituaries for Monday Anniston Star, The (AL) - Monday, October 21, 2002 Services for LTC Gordon Frank Wood, 77, of Anniston will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Revs. Bobby Green, Robert Childers and Chaplain Jim Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Mr. Wood died Friday at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Jane Wood of Anniston. Pallbearers will be Robert Davie, Jack Prickett, Hugh Chitwood, William J. Farrell, John A. Prickett Jr., and Terry Hodges. Mr. Wood, a Jacksonville native, was in the U.S. Navy for 28 years, serving in World War I, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After he retired, he worked as a substitute teacher, a school coordinator and a Red Cross volunteer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Anniston, the Retired Officers Association and the Army Aviation Association of America. He was a charter member of the National World War II Memorial. Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha McDaniel Wood; his parents, Frank and Lena Wood; and a brother, William Bruce Wood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of East Alabama, P.O. Box 2581, Anniston, AL 36202; Big Oak Ranch, P.O. Box 507, Springville, AL 3524; or a favorite charity.
