More detail on this person: Mark, or Woody as I
understand that most of his Army friends knew him,
had reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel several
years before his death. He was stationed at the
Pentagon at the time of his retirement, a place
that he loved very much. He died on his birthday,
July 20, 1985. On that day, the nation and all of
LTC Woodbury's family and friends, of which I am
most proud to say that I am one, lost a very
extraordinary solder, patriot and man. This information was last updated 05/18/2016

Unfortunately, I am more familiar with Mark's
career after he returned from Vietnam. I met him
in the summer of 1973, and at that time, he was
TDY at Tulane in New Orleans. Believe me, Mark in
N.O. - pursuing a masters in comp. sci., driving a
1970 GTO convertible, living in a converted 19th
century carriage house in the heart of the French
Quarter - was exactly the way a G.I. should return
to the states. He indeed made the most of it.
He was from Manchester, Connecticut and was
ROTC from the University of Connecticut,
graduating about 1960.
