A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M., on Friday, June 7, 2013, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Meridian with Father Francis Cosgrove officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. - 11 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Friday, June 7, 2013.

Burial will be in McCullough Cemetery in McCullough, AL on Saturday with full military honors.

He was born in Bristol, CT, and graduated from Bristol High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Airforce. He entered the Airforce Academy where he earned his pilot's wings, and later enlisted in the state of Connecticut Army National Guard, and served there for several years. Following a lifetime career as a Master Aviator and a Maintenance Officer, he retired as a Major 0-4 from the U. S. Army.

Major Woolley, Retired served twenty-four years.. From 1951-1954, he served in the Korean War, USAF enlisted service, and served as an aircraft armorer, maintained weapon systems (machine guns, 5 * airiel rockets and bombs) on F-84 Jet Fighters. In 1962, he served in the U.S. Army as a Helicopter Pilot for CONARC Commanding General during the Cuban Crisis. For two years, 1964 & 1965, he served in the Vietnam Conflict, as an Aircraft Maintenance Office/Helicopter Pilot supporting South Vietnamese Army Forces. In 1968, he served again in Vietnam (The TET Offensive) as a Aircraft Maintenance Officer/Helicopter Pilot/Unit Commander with the 1st Air Cavalry Division. During the Cold War Era, he served as a Aircraft Maintenance Officer/Pilot/Unit Commander in support of Commander, US Army, in Europe. He was honorably discharge in 1976.

He was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he was active in the Knights of Columbus, Legion of Mary, and Cursillo. He was active in KAIROS Prison Ministry, the Newton Lions Club, where he was serving as long time Treasurer at the time of his death. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He served his community well. He will be missed by those that knew him.

He was prreceded in death by his parents: Ernest Francis Woolley & Harriet Mary Dumond Bartell and one brother: Clayton Woolley, all of Bristol, CT and his father-in-law: John W. Lassitter of McCullough, AL

Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Betty Joyce Lassitter Woolley of Newton; one daughter: Eileen Denise Foster, and husband Richard Carl Foster of Mobile, AL; one son: John Michael Woolley, and wife Lynne Harbour Woolley of Newton; his mother-in-law: Voncile Lassitter of McCullough, AL; several nieces and nephews;

Pallbearers: Knights of Columbus

Honorary Pallbearers: Newton Lions Club Members

Memorials may be made to the State of MS KAIROS Prison Ministry or St. Patrick's School Expansion.
