More detail on this person: LT. COL. DAVID G. WORKMON SR. Lt. Col. David G. Workmon Sr., U.S.M.C. retired, 63, of Lee's Summit died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at his home. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, June 5, at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit, with burial in Lee's Summit Cemetery. Friends called from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the All Veterans Memorial, P.O. Box 2192, Lee's Summit, MO 64063. David was born Jan. 26, 1937, in Hammond, Ind. His family moved to Independence, Mo., when he was an infant; and he grew up there graduating William Chrisman High School. He earned a bachelor of aviation management degree from Alburn, Ala., and a master of arts degree from Central Michigan University. He was a U.S. Marine Corp aviator serving for 22 years. He was always a willing listener to family and friends. He maintained a good sense of humor and cool head in difficult situations. His irreplaceable wisdom, helpfulness and story telling will be missed by all who knew him. His is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Workmon, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Terri Workmon, Lee's Summit, and Eric Workmon, Lee's Summit; a brother, Harry Workmon, Borger, Texas; three sisters, Loretta Morgan, Lee's Summit, Shirley Nelson, Independence, and Cynthia Workmon, Anchorage, Alaska; and four grandchildren, Mitchell, Bradley, Garrett and Jacqueline Workmon.
