More detail on this person: The Dothan Eagle August 28, 2005 Thomas C. Worthy of Hartford died Tuesday evening, Aug. 23, 2005, at the family residence following an extended illness. He was 74. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today, Aug. 25, at Hartford Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Brown, Moody Faulk, John Calvin Spears, Bruce Spivey and Dr. Ralph Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hartford Baptist Church Christian Life Building Fund, 105 East Burch St., Hartford, AL 36344; Gideon's International, P.O. Box 41, Hartford, AL 36344 or the Hartford Rescue Squad, 503 South Third Ave., Hartford, AL 36344. Mr. Worthy was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Henry County to the late Thomas Barney and Lessie Woodham Worthy. He served 28 1/2 years in the U.S. Army with tours in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. In addition to his parents, one sister, Martha Johnson, and a grandson, Duston Cooper, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rogers Worthy of Hartford; one son, Gerron Worthy of Hartford; three daughters, Melinda (Troy) Alberson of Pensacola, Fla., Anna (Jim) Butterfield and Samantha (Ron) Shah of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Betty (Moody) Pippin of Hartford and Sue (Ray) Hall of Daleville; four grandchildren, Chad Worthy, Mindy Worthy, Dylan Alberson and Sydney Butterfield; and three great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be David Ward, Archie Foundren, Mal Laye, J.D. Chesteen, Herman McNeal, Carl Nichols, Gary Miller and Ned Cobb. The Baracca Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Hartford Heritage Funeral Home, (334) 588-2230, is in charge of the arrangements.
