More detail on this person: Robert Austin Or Bob York, 62 Obituaries for July 15, 2002 Kerrville Daily Times (TX) - Monday, July 15, 2002 Services Tuesday KATY - Robert Austin "Bob" York was born in Hunt on May 25, 1940, to parents Robert Austin and Thelma (Griffin) York. He grew up and attended school in Kerrville, graduating from Jefferson High School before joining the military in 1957. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Army before his honorable discharge from the reserves in 1990. Bob had made his home in the Brookshire/Katy area since 1977, following sales positions in Kerrville and San Antonio. His skill as a mechanic led to his longtime employment as foreman of transportation for the Katy ISD, where he was valued as a model mechanic and employee, a good leader and a valued co-worker. He was united in marriage with Levonne Kiser on Aug. 14, 1986, in Sealy. Outgoing and well versed in many subjects, Bob loved to talk and enjoyed telling stories. He was a member of the Katy VFW. He passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002, in a Katy nursing facility at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife, Vonnie York, of Pattison; son, Michael York, of Denver; stepchildren, Keri Napps of Itasca and Brian Robinson of Pattison; six grandchildren, Boux Napps, Christopher and Eric Robinson, Ciara and Austin Napps; two sisters, Doris Marie Taylor and her husband, Charles, of Kerrville, and Ann Williams and her husband, Tom, of Georgia; numerous other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Richard York. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Hunt Japonica Cemetery in Hunt. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Alzheimer's Association, 11251 Northwest Freeway, Suite 300, Houston, Texas 77092-9632.
