More detail on this person: Charles N Yongue Mr. Yongue was a graduate of The Citadel - Class of 1960 - where he majored in Biology and competed on several athletic teams. Mr. Yongue served his country for 21 years in the Army and was wounded in Vietnam when his spotter plane was shot down. After the war he served in the 11th and 14th Armored Cavalry Regiments along the East/West German border. While there he met his future wife, Olga. He later worked in Army Aviation in Fort Rucker, AL as an accident investigator and Instructor Pilot. During his career he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal , and Master Army Aviator Badge. He also served tours of duty in Thailand and Korea. Mr. Yongue was retired with the rank of Major. After the Army he moved the family to Staten Island, NY where began a 24 year-long career with the New York City Transit Authority. While there he achieved the title of Directer, Systems Safety for buses and subways. He and his wife recently returned to the South to live with their son in Union County, NC while their new home was being built in Lancaster, SC.
