He was 52, and a native of Port Allen. He was a helicopter pilot and a mud engineer. He was a U.S. Army captain and veteran of the Vietnam War. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, 11 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Finis Beauchamp. Burial in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by parents, L.D. Jr. and Lora Mae Ragan Young, Port Allen; a daughter, Becky Young, Macon, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Oswald (Loretta) Decuir, New Iberia; a brother, Doug Young, Port Allen; a grandchild, Soren Young; maternal grandmother, Nealy Ragan; an uncle, Bob Ragan; an aunt, Ester Wise; two nieces, Michelle and Dana Young; and a nephew,Scott Decuir. Preceded in death by maternal grandfather, S.H. Ragan; paternal grandparents, Luther D. Sr. and Frances Walker Young. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Port Allen, 70767, or Heart Association, c/o of Marion Otwell, Port Allen, 70767.
