Major Paul N. Young, Jr. (U. S. Army, Ret.), age 58, of Warren, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at his home.

He was born July 21, 1942 at Pine Bluff, a son of Dorothy Ramey Young of Sherrill and the late Paul N. Young, Sr.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sherrill, a graduate of Troy State University, Troy, Alabama, a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Silver Star, a Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal with 8 campaign stars attached, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with palm, the Vietnamese Cross with Silver Star, 4 Overseas Service Bars, the Army Aviator Badge, the Senior Aviator Badge and the Master Army Aviator Badge and was a retired teacher and instructor of the Warren High School, Jr. ROTC.

Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife, Margaret Brooks Young, whom he married April 23, 1966 at Sherill; 2 daughters, Dona Sue Young, Warren and Dena Ann Smithpeters, Springdale; 1 brother, Freddie Young, Sherrill; 1 sister, Carolyn Booker, Little Rock, and 2 grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas Paul Young.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Frazer's Chapel by Rev. Wayman Mann. Janice Sullivan will be organist. Burial will be in Memorial Park North, Pine Bluff, by Frazer's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Nick Callaway, James Clyde Callaway, Jacob Callaway, Davis Forrest, Bubba York, Jack Hobson, Doug Thornton, and Paul Gatling.

Memorials preferred to Christian Fellowship Church, P. O. Box 893, Warren, AR 71671 or the Warren Jr. ROTC Program, Warren High School, Warren, AR 71671.
