Additional information about this casualty:
Jim was flying co-pilot during an "Eagle Flight" insertion into a village in III Corps in number two ship of a flight of five. This flight was one many that day. We did not prep the area since it was adjacent to a village. On short final our flight was fired on by VC using AK-47s. At this point our gunships and door gunners opened up. I was chalk 3. I remember Jim's Aircraft Commander declaring an emergency - co-pilot hit. He was at a high hover for some time before exiting. He flew to Cu Chi where Jim was pronounced dead due to a wound received in the neck. Details were provided by our Company Commander, MAJ McWorter. A memorial service was held in a chapel at our base camp at Dau Tieng. from Alex Vieglais, Black Widow 40, 5 July 96.
