War Story:
I was the Sparrow Hawk Commander on the second chopper that went down..... We had one(1) KIA. His name was PFC SRSEN, Steven A., 2196925. He is listed in B. G. BURKETT's book "Stolen Valor" in Appendix III as receiving a posthumous Navy Cross. His date of death is listed on a computer printout from the Moving Wall as 27Jan67. This was the morning after the helicopters went down. I also have a carbon copy of the list of personal effects dated 27Jan67 showing his death as the same date. Approximately 0330 on 27Jan67 a CH-34 came in for a MEDEVAC and took out two(2) recon people. If you need the names of the two(2) pilots on the mountain I do believe I remember their last names. John Hanson, August 2000
