Accident Summary:

While attempting to stop a sampan crossing a river, the aircraft lost RPM while making a low slow turn. The aircraft struck the water and sank.


War Story:
The aircraft sank in the Song Dong Nai River after the main rotor struck the water while trying to blow a sampan back to the river bank. It was later determined to be loss of tail rotor. eye witness, Tom Balfour, July 1997.
