Accident Summary:

During a command and control mission, the aircraft commander was requested to land the aircraft. While hovering near a clear area, one passenger jumped off and the aircraft swung into a stump. It then began to spin, crashed and burned.

War Story:
I was the crewchief of ghost rider 66-1628. when this aircraft went down on the top of a firebase. That day, my CO had grounded me and ordered me not to fly for family emergency reasons. That night SP Livingstone took my place and during the night, the aircraft was sent on an emergency mission to support a firebase out in the mountains and the aircraft got caught on a tree stump causing it to flip and crash. My gunner at the time, RF Burton was one of the survivors and got away with a broken nose. Have not seen him since and would appreciate any info and also on fellow gunner Ytsen. My tour in Pleiku was from Jan. to June of 68 Albert Garza, Jr. former crewchief in the 189th. GF0052@aol.com
