Accident Summary:

The aircraft experienced an engine failure, crashed and burned while attempting an autorotation.


War Story:
On 25 April 1968 I was in 1st Platoon, D CO, Guns, 227th AHB, 1st Cav. On that day I was flying wing on Ervin J. Hoyt (AC) and 1LT Kenneth Glenn Spencer (Pilot).They had an engine failure at a very high altitude. This was during Operation Delaware, invasion of A Shau Valley. They had a failed autorotation over extremely difficult mountainous terrain. From: Robert Kelly, CW2
