War Story:
The 1st of February was a tragic one for the Tomahawks. While flying for the 1st Infantry Division, aircraft 921 had an explosion from within the ship. Control was lost and the aircraft turned over on its right side. The gunner was trapped in the wreckage and died along with four other ground troops. The three remaining crew members and three other ground troops escaped with minor injuries. The mission continued, and the Gunslingers destroyed one bunker, got three possible kills, and one confirmed VC kill. from Quarterly Unit History 1970, 128th Aviation company (Assault Helicopter) 11th Aviation Battalion (Combat) 12th Aviation Group (Combat) 1st Aviation Brigade, APO San Francisco 96289, 1 January 1970 - 31 March 1970, prepared by WO1 Arthur S. Fantroy, and WO1 Richard G. Waggener, Unit Historical Officers. Approved by MAJ Glenn A. Brown, Phu Loi, Republic of Vietnam.

From the MACV Summary for 01 Feb 70 (Texas Tech 7390207001a.pdf p11) which says: An Army UH-1 Huey helicopter was downed by enemy ground fire six miles SW of Lai Ke in Binh Duong Province, killing one US and 6 ARVN aboard, and also wounding three other US personnel. The aircraft was destroyed.
