War Story:
From the Division TOC reports:

19Feb70 Entry#75 at 1750 hours.

(C) 196th Bde, Sp Parks, F/8th Cav, BT121225 at 1320H-1455H. Blues inserted at the above location & received heavy Small Arms & Automatic Weapons Fire from North and South with negative casualties. 1455: Blues were extracted. Lift ship experienced rotor difficulties and crashed. Result: 9X US wounded in action requiring evacuation and one U.S. killed in action. Chinook called to recover slick. Recovery CH-47 received small arms fire with no casualties or damage. UH-1H will be totally destroyed. Notify AAE, MAJ White.

19Feb70 Entry #95 at 2120 hours.

(U) AAR, *Maj Ivey, F/8th Cav, (EN) BT121225 at 1400H, ref DJF entry #75 UH-1H during Blues Extraction, received heavy SA/AW cal .30 fire.

Received unknown number of hits. crashed from 50 feet. Result: 1 US KIA, 9 US WIA(E). Aircraft combat loss, Notify III Marine Amphibious Force, Sergeant Weston.

*Maj Ivey, was listed as the commander of F/8th Cav in 1969.
