Description: Normal security measures were in effect at Camp Holloway on the night of 6-7 Feb. The American interior guard was posted at 1900H at six perimeter post and the Military Police interior security patrols were mounted at intervals throughout the early evening. The Regional Forces Security Company assigned to Camp Holloway posted men on eleven guard posts about the perimeter. The airfield tower was manned. At about 2230H, a through search of the aircraft parking ramp and other adjoining areas was initiated in response to a report from U.S. guard post #3 that there was noice in the parking area. The search revealed nothing out of order. Two additions searches were made between 2305 and 0120Hs. The Vietnamese Regional Forces made telephone checks of their guard posts. At 0200H, Camp Holloway came under mortar, demolition, small arms and bazook attack. Approximately 70 rounds were fired into the cantonment area, striking primarily into the troop billet areas. Numerous satchel charges were placed on and near aircraft in parking areas by saboteurs who had infiltrated the installation. These saboteurs were seen exiting the PSP ramp by U.S. guard post #4, and by Regional Force post #7, which engaged the enemy with small arms fire. Upon opening fire, post #7 was in turn engaged by bazooka and small arms fire from an enemy position nearby until the saboteurs made good their escape. The mortar and demolition attack terminated by 0205H and all firing ceased by 0235H. The II Corps Advisory Group Compound was also brought under attack by satchel changes at 0200H. Casualty count of the 52d Avn Bn included seven killed and 98 wounded; five aircraft were destroyed and 20 others damaged by blast, fragmentation, and fire. No building were destroyed but several received major damage. The first medical evacuation aircraft departed Holloway for Nha Trang at 0345H. At 0905H a reinforced Eagle Flight was launched to the northeast of the camp. Contact was made and the operation continued for the next 48 hours. By the 12th, 28 enemy were killed.
