Location, near Da Nang
Description: This was one of the first search and clear oprations conducted by the Marines in the Da Nang area. On the 3d, a unit of the 9th Marines received heavy small arms fire. Orders are given to raze the village. Morley Safer and a CBS camera crew film the Marines burning 51 huts. Total casualties in the operation were 4 US WIAs; enemy losses unknown.
