Montagnard independence movement information
for Montagnard Revolt
CIDG

From date 651217 to 651221

CIDG was a Civilian Irregular Defense Group unit
Primary service involved, Civilian Irregular Defense Group
Darlac Province, II Corps, South Vietnam
Location, Lac Thien
Description: The Montagnard independence movement (FULRO) flared up in the central highlands in late December and affected the CIDG camps at Lac Thien, Plei Djereng, and Mai Linh. The SF moved the Rhade eagle flight company (officially the Holloway Army Airfield Security Force) to Plei Do Lim. Initially ARVN tanks blocked this relocation but the SF defused this confrontation. On the 18th the SF A-236 Det at Lac Thien negotiated the release of the LLDB. On the 19th, 82 Montagnards sought asylum with A-112 at Mai Linh after they had killed 30 Vietnamese soldiers at Plei Kanong. A Nung force at Plei Djereng was used to keep it from being seized on the 20th.
