Description: The battalion history states that elements of C Battery located a large force of NVA troops near Bong Son. The ARA immediately took the enemy force under fire. The NVA, while occupying trenches and bunkers, delivered a furious fusillade against the attacking helicopters. In an exemplary display of offensive spirit, the ARA aircraft continued to press the attack, keeping the foe pinned down with relentless fire until other 1st Cav units could join the attack.
