Description: In support of DOUBLE EAGLE, MAG-36 reported at 0730H two UH-34D's escorted by two armed UH-1B's retracted a five man recon team from BS780320 and returned them to the BSA. At 0900H eight UH-34D's lifted 150 troops of Hotel 2/4 from BS856173 to BS922188 without incident. At 1500H eight UH-34D's lifted 56 troops and 23 lifts, including 12 externals of Mortar Battery 3/12 from BS839420 back to the USS Valley Forge. At 1730H two UH-34D's escorted by two armed UH-1E's, retracted two recon teams, one at BS509415 and the second at BS560430. A third team was retracted from BS661312 and returned to the BSA. Shortly after the recon team was inserted at BS560430 the team reported sighting 100 VC and a decision was made to retract the team. Two UH-34D's escorted by two armed UH-1E's launched immediately for the area and under conditions of reduced visibility successfully retracted the team without incident.
