Description: In support of DOUBLE EAGLE II, MAG-36 reported at 1515H eighteen UH-34D's retracted 153 troops, 4.2 mortars and ammunition from BT055250 to the LSA and USS Valley Forge. The flight encountered light small arms fire from BT060252. One UH-34D experienced an engine failure in the pick-up zone, an engine change was made during the hours of darkness and the aircraft was flown out at 270800H. The engine was lifted in and out by an Air Force CH-3A. At 1700H a Provisional Defense Company of 2/7 was lifted in to provide security of the downed aircraft and remaining elements of 2/3 were lifted to the USS Valley Forge. This Provisional Company was retracted by 12 UH-34D's at 270930H.
