unit history information
for 2/20 ARA

For date 660313

2/20 ARA was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
Operation JIM BOWIE
Binh Dinh Province, II Corps, South Vietnam
Location, Kim Song Valley
Description: The battalion history states that severe weather prevented the use of USAF Tac Air and caused repeated postponements of JIM BOWIE scheduled to begin on the 11th. On the morning of the 13th, the decision was made to start the Operation without Tac Air and without tube artillery support. The 2/20th mustered all three firing batteries and delivered 1,226 rockets on all scheduled LZs. None of their aircraft were lost despite having to navigate through the mountains during severe weather conditions.
