Description: The 155th Aviation Company unit history states that the successful 155th participation in the close ground combat of the 23d ARVN Division's Operation THANG LONG between 8 and 12 July, prompted BG Nguyen Van Manh, the Division CG, to present Vietnamese honors to three Americans. The 155th's CO, MAJ Parlas, received the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with the Silver Star for his close cooperation with the ARVN division staff and personnel since coming to the command in December, 1965. To CPT Frost and 1LT William O. Martin went the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry for their part in supporting ARVN combat action. CPT Frost was decorated for suppressive armed air support which resulted in killing 40 VC. 1LT Martin received his Vietnamese medal for evacuating 26 wounded from under enemy fire and returning them to medical facilities in Ban me Thuot.
