Description: As part of Operation GOLDEN FLEECE 7-1, the Marines positioned a battalion to assault the hamlet of Van Ha (1) that the district chief maintained had not seen South Vietnames Government troops in over four years. After a large prep, the battalion took the hamlet complex with minimual resistance and found 727 tons of rice. It took 8,000 workers to move it to the Mo Duc District headquarters. The Marines also helped relocate over 700 refugees to Mo Duc, then used 13,500 pounds of explosives to destroy a total of 554 bunkers, 123 houses, 50 caves, etc. in the complex.
