Operation PRAIRIE II
Quang Tri Province, I Corps, South Vietnam
Location, Cam Lo
Description: As part of operation PRAIRIE II, a Marine recon patrol ambushed what appeared to be two NVA soldiers about 5 Km northwest of Cam Lo. This started a major fire fight with several elements of the 812th NVA Regt, 324B Div that would span the next two days. Many helicopter resupply and medevac missions were made under heavy fire and the enemy forced several missions to be cancelled.
