Location, near Duc Co
Description: As part of FRANCIS MARION, one platoon from B/1/8th Inf, 4th Inf Div pursued a long NVA soldier into a "lame duck" ambush trigged by K4 Bn, 32d NVA Regt. Before the rest of the company could help them, the entire platoon was destroyed. Only 7 soldiers survived. They played dead or were unconscious. B Co suffered 29 KIAs, 1 MIA, and 31 WIAs.
