Description: While supporting operation SHENANDOAH II some 12 miles northeast of Lai Khe, A & D/2/28th Inf fought a violent engagement with a reinforced battalion from the 271st VC Rgmt. The VC left 163 dead but LTC Allen, the 2/28th CO, and MAJ Holleder, the 1st Bde S-3, were KIA in this battle.
